About the performance

"Hello! Hello!" is a humorous parody of historical events and human weaknesses in trying to keep one's head in the onslaught of violence. The action is set in the Skopje cafe "Kaj Jorgo", in occupied Skopje during World War II. "Kaj Jorgo" is a hangout for high-ranking representatives of the fascist occupier in Skopje and members of the Resistance, and the owner of the cafe, Jorgo, tries to "manage" relations with both sides and stay alive in the midst of the war. However, he often gets entangled in compromising situations, trying to balance the demands of the Resistance and the fascist officials, which results in tense and comical endings. The humor in the play is formed by numerous word games, ambiguities, puns, linguistic intrigues, and satirizing various stereotypes and clichés related to the past, but also to the present in Macedonia.
